JOB CORPS Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center (SNJCC) culinary students participated in the Reno Rotary Mardi Gras Food & Wine Tasting fundraising event on March 8, 2011. The students prepared a “Mardi Gras Shortcake,” for the attendees, with strawberries, pineapple, and shredded coconut. Approximately 90 other food and beverage vendors participated in the Mardi Gras-themed event, along with area casinos and restaurants. In attendance were Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and his wife Kathleen, among many other esteemed Nevadans.
SNJCC’s delicious dessert had event attendees standing in line for a taste, and the students received a mention for their festive attire and enthusiastic reception of guests by a local reporter. Read the reporter’s article here:
