Sierra Nevada Helps Hungry During the KTVN Channel 2 Share Your Christmas Drive By Food Drive

For years now, Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center has volunteered with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.  Students and staff have packed boxes in the warehouse, sorted food from food drives and food shows, and even helped the Food Bank employees with food box distribution to the hungry.

The students were once again happy to help during the largest food drive in the area, the KTVN Channel 2 Share Your Christmas Drive By Food Drive on December 9, 2011.  The event, sponsored by KTVN Channel 2, is a 12 hour food drive, held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at various locations in northern Nevada.  Food donors can drive up with their donations and volunteers will unload their cars for them.  Students helped unload cars and sort donations, making it easier for Food Bank employees to manage the items when they are transported back to the Food Bank’s facility.

Two students, Malinda Bolien and Cesar Mora, were interviewed on live television during the food drive by newsanchors Kristen Remington and Wendy Damonte about the food drive and the volunteerism performed by the students all year long.

Sierra Nevada Job Corps is a proud supporter of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and looks forward to continuing its support in 2012!
