Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center held its quarterly blood drive on September 8. The event will help area hospitals care for the community’s critically injured and sick patients. Through the drive, United Blood Services collected 78 units of blood. The center has donated 238 units so far this year – enough blood to help up to 714 people!
In addition to the 78 students and staff that donated blood, five Medical Office Support students helped with the event. The students helped check donors in and provided them with snacks after their donations. The students were able to practice their skills and get real-life experience during the drive. They also helped make the donation process easy and faster for donors.
The center looks forward to helping even more community members during its next drive!
