Shriver Job Corps Center’s CTS Department has been working on a secret project, which they revealed the assembled staff and students at the Monday Morning Business Meeting on Monday, July 19. The students and staff, already excited at returning after a very enjoyable Summer Break, got a big surprise with the announcement that Shriver has gone…LIVE!
Shriver JCC now has a new networking website for students and staff called ShriverBook! The website, shriverjobcorps.net, is now live and active and all Shriver students and staff can register to create accounts.
Primary coordinator, CTS Andres Rodriguez, really believes that this site will be a HUGE success at the center as it will allow students and staff to message each other and keep up in contact more easily. Although not all staff are registered, they will be soon and a training will be conducted to ensure that all staff are aware of how the site will work. During the first week, there are already 46 registered members. It is also accessible off-center via phones with internet connection and home computer systems.
The site, although key in keeping student and staff in contact, will also allow CTS staff to post information about relevant career paths, job postings and major industry or career-based news so that students can have better ability to plan their path in their chosen training fields. An article about how transportation is one of the largest growing industries was posted recently and had a lot of information that will assist students in their decision making process.
