Jose Gomez Carreto is a recent Carpentry student graduate and was immediately hired at Nor’easter Installations where he performs everything he was trained for. Originally from Guatemala, Jose came to the United States at age 15 speaking little to no English. He began at Job Corps in March of 2020 having already achieve his High School diploma and getting his drivers license. His focus and energy went into the Carpentry trade. Shown here on the left is Jose at his new job building cabinets from scratch as an apprentice in the Carpenters Union. On the right is Jose back in time on center rebuilding cabinets in the dorms. The instruction he received and the hands on experience lead him to begin his career straight out of the gate. His instructors called him a “model student” while at Shriver.
