Shriver’s first Citizen Police Academy Completion

On December 9th the Ayer Police Department hosted it’s 16th Ayer Citizen’s Police Academy completion ceremony at the town hall. Sgt. John MacDonald and Lt. Brian Gill were on hand to present certificates to the class which included six Shriver JCC students and one staff member. WBL Coordinator Darlene Buelow and students Stephanie Perez, Luis Filpo, Junior Rosario-Cruz, Kelly Carrillo, Dominique Escalera-Gamache and Francis Rodriguez participated in the Academy over the past 12 weeks learning many facets of law enforcement.

Special acknowledgement went out to Stephanie Perez for being sworn in at the Ayer District Courthouse on Monday, November 16th for being a Spanish Interpreter. Aside from earning their Academy certifications, Kelly, Luis and Stephanie were presented with the Perfect Attendance Award for the 12 week class/academy and Ms. Buelow re-ceived the Top Gun Award.
On hand to celebrate their achievements were Shriver staff members Raymond Walker – Safety & Security, Amanda Williams – CPP Instructor, Timothy Yost – Paint Instructor, Allyson Hart Applied Academics Instructor, Mark Buelow Driver’s Ed Instructor and Lisa Coy – OA/CTS Director.
The ceremony included a motivational speech from Lt. Gill, presentation of certifi-cates and t-shirts, a group picture for the town newspaper and a pot luck dinner for everyone to enjoy.
