Shreveport Job Corps Center student leaders, accompanied by staff, attended the Northwest Louisiana Small Business Summit on February 17, 2012.  The students had an opportunity to talk with local vendors about their businesses, and shared tips with the students to prepare them for the world of work.  While talking to the vendors, students shared information about their skills and training received at the Shreveport Job Corps Center.  They expressed the need for additional Work-Based Learning opportunities, which reinforced talking points for the BCL and OA/CTS Manager during the summit.  The BCL and OA/CTS Manager acquired leads for four (4) potential Work-Based Learning sites as a result of the students’ collaboration with vendors.  The students ha the opportunity to talk with the Mayor about their career interest.
