The San Jose Job Corps Centers Basketball Team, the Spartans have participated with the City of San Jose’s Adult Basketball League and tournaments for five seasons and 2011 marks the first season our team qualified to play in the Championship Game.  According to Kurian, Recreation Supervisor, this is a great improvement for our team!”

Coach Shaw was very proud of our team and here is what he had to say:  “Mr. Kurian, the young men have done well this time. They have put together big wins and hard practices. Thank-you for giving these young men a chance to be part of a winning team, winning not only with basketball and at San Jose Job Corps, but the winning team of life. They will always remember this and I know it will help them to continue to do well in their lives.” 

Center Director, Leslie Gilroy states “Having played a variety of sports including basketball as well as coaching Little League for over 10 years,   I am a big fan of healthy competition. Competitions require people to bring their strengths together to make great things happen.  I’m proud of our young men who are not only committed to their education but also physical fitness, team work and having fun.  Congratulations Spartans and a shout out of special thanks to Coach Shaw!”
