On December 9, 2011 community members and employers from San Jose and Fresno CA attended the San Jose Job Corps Centers annual “Service to Youth Awards” Luncheon at the Bella Mia Restaurant in downtown San Jose.
The San Jose Job Corps Community Advisory Board / Industry Council hosts the “Service to Youth Awards” luncheon as a vehicle to recognize people and partners for their contribution in helping young people develop and grow into productive citizens. These are the people who go through their day to day lives making huge differences yet rarely receive the recognition they deserve for impacting youth and our community as a whole.
The San Jose Job Corps “Service to Youth Awards” luncheon is a special event in which we take the opportunity to honor those exemplary individuals who serve youth in our community. They are those special people who are role models, mentors, and provide guidance and a helping hand to our young community members. Our nominees come from all walks of life and from numerous different collaborating partners that assist Job Corps youth obtain success in their lives.
Center Director Leslie Gilroy captures the essence of this event. “The Service to Youth Awards is one of my favorite functions of the year. The energy, collaboration, and enthusiasm is tremendous and always leaves you walking away feeling really good! I am so appreciative of our Job Corps staff, partners, employers, and youth. Together we shine!”
