San Jose Job Corp Volunteers at the Community Budget Meeting for City Council District 5
The City of San José hosted a Community Budget Meeting for City Council district 5 on Saturday May 7th. San Jose Job Corps falls under this district overseen by Councilmember Magdalena Carrasco. Councilmember Carrasco’s Community Outreach Coordinator, Omar Torres, reached out to request Job Corp volunteers to assist her staff at the community budget meeting. Job Corps students helped with registration, manning the breakfast table and crowd control.
The president of Job Corps’ Student Government Association, Vincent Gelacio, was able to meet and pose for pictures with our City of San Jose Mayor, Sam Liccardo while volunteering for the day.
The meeting offered residents and Job Corps students the opportunity to learn about the City’s current fiscal outlook and shared their top budget priorities directly with City leaders.
