After less than a year at San Diego Job Corps, nineteen year old Tia Pruitt will begin working in the San Diego office of ESET Corporation.  ESET develops security solutions for home users and corporate customers in the United States and internationally.  Pruitt will work in the company’s Customer Care Department as a Customer Service Agent.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with computers and wanted to specialize in cyber security, identifying new malware and viruses and neutralizing them,” Pruitt advised.  “Job Corps offered me wonderful opportunities to learn about the IT field.  Last summer I worked at Qualcomm as part of their Hire-A-Youth Program. It was a great experience and their staff was very supportive.  I learned a lot and gained the confidence to continue pursuing a career in this field and complete Job Corps’ Computer Technical Training program.”

Pruitt praised her Job Corps Computer trade instructor Peter Schurek.  “Peter is an excellent instructor, very knowledgeable, and so much of the training in his class was “hands on”.  He was very encouraging and was a positive influence for me at Job Corps.”

“I’m very excited to begin working at ESET next week,” Pruitt added.  “While working there I will be able to pursue a college degree in computers.  I am very thankful for all the opportunities that have come my way and feel I’m on my way  to having a successful career.”
