SJCC SGA officers shared their experiences in Job Corps with Congresswoman Doris Matsui, D-5th District, April 15 at her office in Washington, D.C. The SGA delegation’s trip to D.C. came at the end of a weeklong SGA Leadership Conference at Camp Horizons near Harrisonburg, Va. SJCC officers Terron Jackson, Victoria Koumarianos, Melissa Nolassco and Stacy Bagsby, accompanied by staff members Max Baltazar and Monique Osborne, joined SGA officers from nine other Job Corps centers to focus on the conference theme, “Good and Safe Jobs for Everyone.” During the week, students worked on critical thinking, team building, leadership and communication skills. The week culiminated with each team creating an action plan to be presented to their centers. The SJCC plan focused on the need to train students about safety at the workplace to maintain a safe work environment and reduce injuries.
