Sacramento Job Corps team raises $1000 for Cancer Society

Students and staff members walked for a
cure Oct. 17, raising $1,000 for breast cancer
research during the American Cancer Society’s
Breast Cancer Walk. The SJCC team of
13 staff members, 56 students and five guests
doubled their initial goal to raise $500. The
Breast Cancer Walk, sponsored by Making
Strides against Breast Cancer, was held at
the State Capitol, attracted more than 19,000
walkers, and raised more than $500,000.
The SJCC team was led by Tamara Brown, a
counselor at SJCC and cancer survivor, and
included Center Director Erica Evans and cancer survivor Yvette Angel.
