Sacramento Job Corps team raises $1,278 for cancer research
Students and staff members from the Sacramento Job Corps Center raised $1,278.45 for breast cancer research during the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Walk Oct. 20.
The annual fundraising event, sponsored by Making Strides against Breast Cancer, was held at the State Capitol and attracted more than 20,000 walkers and raised more than $400,000.
The SJCC team, led by Yvette Angel, a security guard at SJCC and a cancer survivor, and Graciela Jamie, ELL instructor, included 12 staff members, 40 students and four guests. The Sacramento Job Corps Strides Against Cancer team walks to raise money for cancer research.
