On January 17th, SJCC had a visit from one of our former trainees, Davontaye Jordan, who finished the program in July 2016. He reached out to us and asked if he could give back by visiting the center to speak to the current trainees. His words were inspiring.

“I would just like to say that Job Corps has made me into a successful member of society. The programs offered inside the program, such as week 1-5 of Career Transition, Teap, Town Hall Meetings, etc., have helped me stay a healthy, positive minded individual. Job Corps staff and counselors such as Mr. Metz, Alex Noriega, Ms. Chambers, Max Baltazar, Mr. Izzo, and all of the residential advisors helped me reach my goals when I never thought I could have. Accomplishing even a small goal is beautiful, but don’t stop there. When life knocks you down, get back up. Motivation in  this program has brought me through my daily life knowing I fought to become the smart, positive, young man I was hiding. Thank you Job Corps!”

Davontaye is 20 years old, is gainfully employed in the construction industry, and is also pursuing a career in security. He urges current and future Job Corps students not to limit themselves in their careers, and to continue to strive for more.
