Job Corps grad starts successful security business

Vijay Singh, a Sacramento Job Corps graduate, has turned the training he received at Job Corps into a viable career in the security field with operations in Hawaii and California, and, in the process, has provided employment for four other Job Corps graduates. Singh completed Office Administration and obtained his GED from SJCC in 2001. Soon after he started his own business, Victory Protective Services Inc. The business began as a small operation in California, with just two employees. and one client, but quickly grew as Singh won additional contracts to provide security services to companies and governmental agencies. Today, Victory Protective Services contracts with seven different state agencies and three private entities in Hawaii, and six private entities in California, and has 68 full-time and six part-time employees, including  SJCC graduate Raphael Nathan and three  graduates from the Hawaii Job Corps Center. Vijay Singh is a testament to the value of the training students receive at Job Corps and an example of the power of vision, drive, perseverance and professionalism to turn an idea into a successful business.
