Shantel Begay was selected as the Roswell Job Corps Character Counts recipient. Shantel displays the six pillars of Character-Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship
Shantel Begay is 21 years old, she is the oldest of three siblings, she was raised by a single Mother (Rochelle Burbank). At Ten years old Shantel began to babysit her siblings while her Mother worked two jobs to support her family, leaving Shantel with the responsibility of ensuring the house was clean and prepared supper for the family. Shantel attended Horizonte Instruction and Traing Center, but due to unforseen issues she had to drop out during her senior year right before graduation. A year later her Mother told her about Job Corps and encourage Shantel to apply. On May 27, 2014 Shantel began her new journey at the Roswell Job Corps, she achieved her High School dipolma in one month and entered the Electrical Wiring trade, while in Electrical she has also obtained the following credential: OSHA, RAMSIT and Work Keys. When she completes the Roswel Job Corps, her goal is to enroll at ENMU-Roswell and earn her journyman license.
