55 Graduate in December

35 out of 55 students who were eligible to graduate from the Roswell Job Corps Center walked the stage on December 3rd.  There was a lot of fanfare and enthusiasm for the graduates, with some traveling up to eight hours to attend the commencement ceremony.  Graduate speaker Lovanna Johnson was very proud and accompanied by her mother, grandmother, aunt, uncle, and father.  “This is great, I have accomplished something.  Job Corps taught me the skills to get a job and the leadership training to get a promotion.”

Another graduate speaker, Karen Vasquez, had her whole local family in the audience as well.  Karen stated, “When I first get to Job Corps, I speak no English and all of the staff worked with me to make sure I could be successful.”  Karen also received the Character Counts of Chaves County’s Student of Character award.

Finally keynote speaker Bob Donnell of the Roswell and Chaves County Economic Development Corporation addressed the graduates and audience about their achievements.   Expressing that they continue to pursue accomplishment and that every time they achieve success, it makes the next time even easier.

The staff of the Roswell Job Corps Center is very proud of this group of graduates.
