During the morning of July 19, 2023, Arecibo Job Corps students participated in the orientation provided by the “Lazos de Respeto” program. Ms. Elizabeth Maldonado and Social Worker Monica Medina conducted the workshop on Electronic Cigarette “Vape” or “Vaping”.

What harm can electronic cigarettes cause to your health?

– Most electronic cigarettes contain nicotine, a substance that affects health.

– Consuming nicotine during adolescence can damage parts of the brain.

– Exposure to the ultrafine particles found in these devices can damage the lungs and/or cause cancer.

– E-cigarette use increases the likelihood of experiencing a faulty battery accident.

– In 2019, cases of lung injuries related to the use of e-cigarette products were identified.
