On Saturday, May 18, 2024, Arecibo Job Corps students joined the call of the Municipality of Arecibo and its MS4 Program to participate in an important beach cleanup activity. The event took place at one of Arecibo’s main beaches, El Muelle, and included the enthusiastic participation of six Arecibo Job Corps students along with members of the local community.
The main reason for this activity was to keep the Muelle beach clean and in good condition, thus contributing to the preservation of the environment and ensuring a pleasant space for the enjoyment of all residents and visitors. During the two-hour cleaning day, the volunteers were dedicated to picking up trash and debris accumulated on the coast, achieving a noticeable improvement in the appearance and healthiness of the area.
Jesluisier Vázquez, one of the participating students, shared his experience saying, “It was fun and at the same time something interesting to do because it is important to keep our coast clean and beautiful so that people can enjoy it.” His words reflect the spirit of commitment and environmental responsibility that characterized all the volunteers present.
The Arecibo government organization expressed its deep appreciation for the help provided by the Arecibo Job Corps students and the community. They emphasized the importance of these collaborative initiatives for the well-being of the natural environment and the quality of life of the citizens.
This activity not only achieved its goal of cleaning the Muelle beach, but also served as a reminder of the power of community action and the importance of caring for our natural resources. Arecibo Job Corps reaffirms its commitment to the community and the environment, demonstrating once again that unity and teamwork can achieve great things.
