Red Rock reads! Commemorates Read Across America

Red Rock Human Service Worker advanced training and Office Administration students traveled to nearby Wee Care Foundations pre-school on Thursday, March 5 to read and play games with the young students. The event is part of Read Across America Week, which commemorates Dr. Seuss’ (Theodor Seuss Geisel) birthday and the importance of literacy. Jackie Johnson, Red Rock Business and Community Liaison said the students, both young and old, enjoyed their time together and hearing about the antics of Dr. Seuss’ characters. “Bonding occurs in just a few minutes time between the two groups of students. The event not only fosters compassion for each other and team work, it makes learning much more fun. Thank you to Fran Lewis, Wee Care operator, and staff for sharing your kids! The group also had cupcakes made and decorated by Miss Fran’s daughter, a Red Rock manager, and granddaughter, a Wee Care student. Shown reading are HSW students, Dolyn Tate (left) and Damien Tullis.
