Human Service Worker advanced training students and instructor, Rejena Girton attending its first, “Employer Exposure” trip on Thursday, May 12. The group traveled to the Graham Academy, a school for autism spectrum students and other special needs. Ms. Girton reports the day was both wonderful and emotional with the students coming away with an appreciation for the school’s staff and its students. A couple of the HSW students said that they would enjoy working at the Academy or a similar facility. The group also took a walk on the Kingston Levee and learned about some of the coal mining history that is part of the area’s heritage. Here, the students look over an historical sign which provides information about the area’s coal mining era.
