Red Rock JCC assists with neighborhood fire prevention

Red Rock Job Corps Center students assisted with neighborhood safety and fire prevention by participating in a smoke detector installation project. The students assisted the Hughestown Fire Department near Pittston, PA, and the Northeast PA Chapter of the American Red Cross by installing smoke detectors with other volunteers on Sunday, October 20.
Kayla Yuda, Student Government Association vice president, said, “We were happy to work on this project which helps Hughestown-area families stay safe from fire. A number of the residents were elderly, and they were very thankful for the smoke detectors.”
Additionally, in August, another group of Red Rock Job Corps Center students assisted with a similar project with the Pittston Fire Department and the Red Cross installing smoke detectors in a neighborhood where a young child had recently died as a result of a home fire.
