Red Rock recognized its female students in the Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing career technical training vocations during Women in Construction Week. Seven females are learning these vocations, at Red Rock, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Home Builders Institute instructor train these women to become the best carpenters, electricians and plumbers, and assist them in becoming productive member of the workforce. Carpentry student, Angel Cooper, who is new to the shop, says she is learning to “communicate with her teammates.” “This is very important while on the job. You need to know what is happening around you when you’re building.” Wanting to find a better-paying job, Angel said she also chose a trade which would enable her to give back her community. “A lot of people don’t have homes, and I believe we should help them.
