The ladies of Alcott Dorm collected the most recyclables during the Earth Day recycling contest, which ended on Friday, May 6. Day RA Jason Jones and BCL Jackie Johnson collected the items, which were weighed at the Property building by Property Clerk Shawn Abernethy. There were approximately 88 pounds of materials collected, with Alcott beating Boone Dorm by a close three-quarters-of-a-pound. Alcott’s total was 32.5 pounds, and Boone’s was 31.75 pounds. Coming in third was Buchanan Dorm with 16 pounds and Thorpe Dorm with 7.5 pounds. The winning dorm will be treated to a pizza party by the SGA. A big thanks to all students and staff who assisted with this effort! The Center does have a main stream recycling bin for all types of recyclable materials that is open to staff and students. It pays to recycle!
