A recent job fair at the Liberty Arena in Williamsport, PA, was a successful day of connections and partnership, says
Red Rock admissions counselor, Aleisha Amadi, shown above. Held on October 7, Ms. Amadi spent the day presenting the Job Corps program to the community, informing individuals who were not aware of the program and the many benefits of considering Job Corps to complete a hands-on trade, earn a high school diploma or GED, and learn to become established in a career pathway to obtain a meaningful job with a sustainable wage. The Job Fair was facilitated by the Williamsport Chamber of Commerce, and other sponsor partners including, First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania, PA CareerLink, state Senator Gene Yaw, state Representatives Jeff Wheeland and Garth Everett, the Lycoming County Commissioners and the City of Williamsport.
Ms. Amadi said employer connections were made with Conagra, Steve Waldman Electric, Plumbing Masters and Liberty Group, all local businesses who were interested in hiring Job Corps graduates to work for their companies.
She said, “These are wonderful connections which opened doors for graduates, and soon-to-be graduates who can
begin making employer connections to get into the labor market and begin their careers.”
