Arecibo, P.R.- In order to expand the student’s knowledge about the importance of Occupational Safety and Health processes in a variety of industries, BCL and Safety Officer were invited on April 2nd, by Thermo King, in Arecibo City, to receive a training about the company’s safety and health security protocols/procedures, strategic plans, including goals and challenges.
Pedro Cortés, the company’s Safety (EHS) Manager provided to the Ramey Job Corps’ Student Safety Committee a complete orientation and gave a tour through the whole manufacturing plant, explaining the operations and pointing out the safety and security guidelines/processes. Mr. Cortés highlighted the importance of internal communication among personnel and management teams for optimizing a safe working environment. The weaker the internal communication is, the more it affects negatively the working environment.
Thermo King leads the world in manufacturing and innovating transport temperature control systems for trucks, trailers, shipboard containers and railway cars as well as HVAC systems for bus, shuttle and passenger rail applications. Thermo King also manufactures the highly successful “TriPac” hybrid auxiliary idle reduction and temperature management system for truck cabs.
A few students demonstrated interest in knowing what were the requirements to work with Thermo King, which is a unit of Ingersoll-Rand Company Limited. Iván Collazo, Plant General Manager also talked to the students and opened the doors for eligible candidates to apply to vacancies. Students were glad of receiving the training and getting to know step by step, the plant operations as well as their safety and security protocols and management.
