In commemoration of the 911-attack events in September 2001, Ramey Job Corps held a ceremony for remembering the victims and to honor the commendable efforts of security agencies. Nine years have passed after the multiple accidents that began in New York.
The Ramey Job Corps’ Department of Recreation joined their efforts with students who expressed an ode to the victims and heroes. Furthermore, they welcomed the Aguadilla Police Department, the Department of Homeland Security- Customs and Border Protection, the Coast Guard, Aguadilla Fire Department , the Office for Emergency Management, among others. Their representatives, addressed the students to express how in situations like this, their operations react and act. They also offered an orientation, related to their respective expertises, about the proper ways to react and act when been in a situation where their safety and security is threatened.
Participating agencies, brought in and explained the various transportation vehicles and equipment. Students had the opportunity to see the interior and equipment of a fire truck, a helicopter, a rescue unit of the Civil Defense, and a police transit unit. Despite the sensitivity of the event’s symbolism, students recognized the importance of community unity for the benefit of a better quality of life.
