Community Peace Promoters from Job Corps

Ramey, P.R.- Twelve Ramey Job Corps students out of 26 were referred to a second phase of the Puerto Rico Department of the Family , in order to be train and receive the certification as a Community Peace Promoter. The objectives of the program are:

-to provide the knowledge and skills to the youth, so they can build a culture of peace from an ecosystem perspective.

-to increase within youth, their protective capacities, so they can identify and manage conflictive and difficult situations in a pacific manner.

-to give them strategies and alternatives directed to develop skills and lifestyles that promote the strength and development of their character for responsible decision making.

-to prepare them in the development of their leadership in order to convert them in Peace Promoters in their families and communities.

– to promote the application of knowledge and skills learned in the construction of a personal life,  partner, family and community-social , anchored in peace.

The second phase will begin upon the students vacation recess.  Those who complete successfully the program will join all the students from around the island in the graduation to be celebrated in the Puerto Rico’s Convention Center in San Juan, by September, 2012. This is a volunteer program offered in extended scheduled from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Center. Students involved are extremely happy by having this opportunity brought by the Puerto Rico Department of the Family.
