Ramey Job Corps Highlights, Supported by City Mayor

Ramey Job Corps, Aguadilla, PR.- In support of Ramey Job Corps, the Aguadilla city mayor, Hon. Carlos Méndez visited on April 20th, the Aguadilla Job Corps center facilities in order to direct an important message to the televised audience. Méndez highlighted the great socioeconomic impact the Job Corps programs have in Puerto Rico. Three centers altogether provide approximately a thousand academic and professional development opportunities to less advantaged youth, who elsewhere cannot find a so complete non for profit program, graduating with High School degrees by the Puerto Rico Department of Education, and technical certifications recognized by national accrediting boards or associations at no cost for them.

The city Mayor urged the citizens to call the Congress in support of assigning the funding needed for the programs for year 2012. “ Job Corps students are employees in training; therefore, Job Corps brings with its services approximately: a thousand jobs to these youth, more than 320 personnel jobs, and a strong economic impact to over a thousand of local and national businesses to which the Job Corps programs purchase goods and services. Job Corps decreases the scholastic dropout rate, as well as it decreases the unemployment rate with each student enrolled. Consequently, this contributes to having the youth occupied, not been in the streets, making them productive, and even preventing them from idleness and to fail the law” stated the Center’s Business & Community Liaison, Karen Martínez. The Hon. Carlos Méndez had already sent a support letter to the Congress via the National Job Corps Association, and continues fervently to assist the program in every step forward. As well, he encourages businesses to support this program through this Congressional synergy, where communicating their endorsements is fundamental.

To this televised interview also joined the community relations member Mr. Marrero who added to the discussion his support to the Job Corps program, as well as the importance it has the synergy between citizens & business in order to improve the quality of life. The communication, and active integration and efforts through service are vital for the overall’s welfare. To conclude the good news, the Medical Office Support student, Victor Soto, expressed why the Center’s staff and he considered him a success story for taking great advantaged and leadership in the program.
