Faces of Job Corps: Cole Gregurek, Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps

Cole Gregurek, Advanced Training Student

Cole Greguek is 21 years old and from Minot, ND.  He currently attends Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps in Minot, ND.  Cole Gregurek completed the Office Administration trade. He also became certified in all of the industry standard certifications offered in the Office Administration trade. He is certifed as a Microsoft Office Specialist in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. He also is certified in IC3 (Internet and Computing Core certification).  He is currently taking Advanced training at Minot State University.  He is now in his 3rd semster (along with two summer semesters). He made the Dean’s list the 2009 Fall semester. He also works leisure time employment at North Country Sportswear setting up artwork for t-shirts.

Cole joined Burdick Job Corps because he got tired of working dead end jobs, not to mention, he needed to hang out with a different crowd of people to get away from all of the drugs. Job Corps is helping him achieve his goals by making him realize how important education is and how anybody can do it if they put their mind to it.  It also helped him realize how important it is to be responsible and to become employable.

What Cole likes most about Job Corps is how hard everyone was on him from the start.  Cole says that without any rules, he would probably be where he was when he started.  The best part for Cole was getting him started on saving money, helping him to be able to afford his own place, and being independent, as before it seemed nearly impossible.
