Alex is 21 years old and from Crosby, ND. He is currently training in the Carpentry trade at Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps in Minot, ND. Alex joined Job Corps to give his life a fighting chance. He wanted something more to fall back on then just his high school diploma.
Alex says Job Corps is helping him achieve his goals by, from the time he wakes up to the time he goes to sleep, Job Corps trains him into a better, more successful citizen. A family is what he wants most in my life, and Burdick Job Corps is helping him start off a career that will help him reach that dream.
What Alex likes most about Job Corps is the positive reinforcement that he receives when he is on the right track. When he falls behind, he does not get scolded, instead he gets help. Alex says that life is what you make of it and Job Corps just helps you out along the way. There are many rules here, some bigger than others, but if you are willing to follow the little ones, then what will you do for the bigger ones, he says. Alex says your life is more important than just one day, but you have to take it one day at a time.
Some of Alex’s hobbies are writing, pool, guitar and wood working.
