BURDICK TEAM HOLDS SEVERAL BAKE SALES TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE “OUT OF DARKNESS” WALK — Burdick launched a series of fundraisers in conjunction with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Burdick Job Corps will be participating on September 8th in an “Out of Darkness” Walk for Suicide Prevention and Awareness. 50% of the money raised stays in North Dakota to fund prevention programs and to support services for Survivors of Suicide Loss. Scheduled on Tuesday, August 21st a “Sweet Tooth Day” was held (raised $115.26). Staff donated a variety of homemade bars, brownies and candy to curb that sweet tooth! Upcoming bake sales that occurred were scheduled on August 28th which is “Start the Day off Right” with a wide assortment of muffins (raised $136.05) and our last fundraiser was held on September 5th which was “Cookie Day” (raised $250.59). Burdick’s team raised a total of $501.90 for the “Out of Darkness” Walk.
The walk was held on Saturday, September 8th. Five staff and 6 students participated in the walk. The total amount raised for Suicide awareness and prevention was $20,880 and there were 36 teams that involved 357 walkers.
