The water is back in its banks but the contributions made by Burdick Job Corps students live on. Make A Difference day accomplishments this year included the volunteer services of a special group of Health Occupation Training students and their instructor, Stacy Anderson, who responded to Trinity Nursing Home when the waters were predicted to rise in their facility. The elderly had to be evacuated immediately. Their response efforts included packing clothing, toileting, getting residents into their chairs for transport, stripping room and visiting with them to help them remain calm. Two staff and three students assisted with this phase of the operation. They contributed 30 hours in much needed assistance.
The opposite process was used to return residents to the nursing home. Clothing and belongings were unpacked and cared for, residents were toileted. Fresh linens were replaced on beds. One staff and three students contributed 48 hours to the project for a total of 78 hours of local emergency flood action.
