Burdick Service Learning Project Comes to a Close

Burdick Service Learning Project Comes to a Close

Burdick Job Corps is in the process of completing a very important Service Learning Project with Granite Springs Water and Ice in Minot, ND. The company received extensive damage after the 2011 flood. When assistance was needed to keep the necessary flow of ice and water to neighborhoods and recovery crews, Job Corps students stepped in to fill the labor shortage. This allowed the  business to meet the critical demand when temperatures were soaring into the 90s.  Ten students responded immediately and the  number has tapered down to two that will close the project out the week of December 12, 2011. Other Burdick students also assisted other Burdick partners with employee assistance due to heavy labor shortages. Burdick chose the focus on business and industry as its priority for flood recovery. Burdick Students and staff also assisted with sandbagging efforts to prevent the flood damage.
