After a number of years, it has become tradition that Burdick Job Corps Culinary Arts students participate in the multi state region’s largest Scandinavian celebration well known as the Norsk Hostfest. The event brings thousands of visitors each year. This year Joshua Owens was among fifteen students who participated. He was fortunate enough to work with Chef Kristian (pictured) from Norway. Olson assisted in the preparation of a number of Norwegian foods including pea soup and fish stew. Students volunteered in the Finnish Kitchen and First Lutheran Church Rommegrot operation as well. This culinary experience gave Burdick students the opportunity to learn the cuisine of a number of cultures and exchange ideas as well. The total contribution of the Burdick team was preparation of 300 pounds of carrots, celery, rutabagas and onions.
