How would you like to kiss a pot belly pig? That’s just what one lucky person got to do on Thursday, May 17th in an effort to raise money for Relay for Life. Dawn Anderson, Deputy Center Director (right picture) puckered up and had to kiss the pig.
Students at Job Corp have been putting on fundraisers in an effort to raise money for the fight against cancer. It really hit home this year when staff member Addie Nelson was diagnosed with breast cancer. The final fundraiser was kissing Wilbur, a local farm pig. Staff members set jars around campus and the staff member with the most money in his or her jar had to kiss Wilbur.
Addie Nelson, Administrative Assistant, Burdick Job Corp (pictured left) said, “To see the support and just willing to do whatever it took to raise one more penny just made the world of difference to me. And it made it much easier for me to go through what I went through because I had that support I needed to get through it and my Burdick family was there.”
Just over $4,000 dollars has been raised by the Job Corps staff and students. The Relay for Life event takes place on Friday, June 8th.
