Watersheds

Potomac Job Corps students clocked twenty-three hours of volunteer service on May 2nd and May 3rd by supporting the Sierra Club Bay Watershed Project and Forest Heights Municipality Watershed Project.  Students assisted in reversing water flows on Livingston Road in Oxon Hill, Maryland.  The Livingston Road’s watershed is located in an area where water flows across a stream.  The Project attempts to redirect the water flow in order to prevent pollutants that affect the health of the area’s water ways. In addition to learning how to physically alter water flows, the students also learned how one’s actions can leave footprints that will affect water quality in neighborhoods.  Students received a letter of appreciation for their service.
