Meet Thennie Freeman, the Superstar, Potomac Job Corps Grad, who regularly rocks the world with her drive and passion for making a difference. After her time at PJCC, Mrs. Freeman received her Strategies for Leading Change cert. from Harvard University, Masters of Arts in Teaching, at the University of the District of Columbia, her Public Manager Cert. from George Washington University, and her Lean Six Sigma Cert. from Greenbelt, MD.
Currently, Mrs. Freeman serves as the Associate Director of the Office of Youth Programs (OYP) at the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES). As Associate Director, Mrs. Freeman is responsible for ensuring the successful day-to-day operations of all DOES youth workforce programs.
Mrs. Freeman has been instrumental in helping our District’s youth find employment through various workforce programs and leading the charge in developing their work skills.
In 2017, Mrs. Freeman help launch and oversee the Mayor’s Opportunity Scholarship. This scholarship provides eligible District youth with financial support for post-secondary and vocational aspirations. Since its inception, this scholarship has provided nearly 1,000 District youth close to $1 million in scholarships assistance.
In 2019, Mrs. Freeman secured a 5-year $3 million partnership with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Over the next 5-years, this partnership will help nearly 500 District youth, by providing them a pipeline into the financial regulatory services industry.
Mrs. Freeman is also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, where she aids and supports fundraising activities for local scholarships.

On Sept. 30th, 2021, Mrs. Freeman served as the Keynote speaker for the PJCC Q3 CRC meeting, where her story and remarks, inspired the room to tears and motivated us to never stop dreaming.
