Potomac Job Corps Students Serve Seniors

On Friday, November 18, 2016 (9) of our students and (1) staff member, served lunch to over (60) Senior Citizens at the Congress Heights Senior Wellness Center. The students were an inspiration to the seniors. The students served the seniors Thanksgiving Dinner, refilled their drinks, served the desserts and made them smile. Some of the seniors were delighted to see these young adults from job corps.

When the students were talking to the seniors and enjoying dinner,  they asked questions about the program. Marcus Tyler talked about the Culinary Program and how he had only been in job corps for (5) months and is 89% complete. His table was pleased and clapped in response to his accomplishments. Amira McAroy and Shakirah Morris had a great time also. They joked, laughed and had the seniors cracking up at them. The seniors could not believe that these (2) ladies that were in the Electrical Trade. Olivia Jones just smiled the whole time and served on the back line with the Sr. Center Staff. Ronald Grady probably had the most fun and exciting group of ladies. He was serving them their dinner and a senior wanted another plate, Ronald told her she could only be served once and she just went off on him. He just smiled and went to let the servers know. Ronald stated, “Umm, yall have a spicy one out there and she is hungry”. It was too funny! Overall the trip was amazing and everyone had a great time giving back to the community.
