Potomac Job Corps Planning for Students Safe Return

Potomac Job Corps Center continue to plan for students returning. The senior staff leadership has been meeting virtually for several weeks to make sure when students return all areas of the center have been covered. The date when students will return to campus has not been announced as of yet. However, staff members continue to engage in trainings related to academics, trade training, work based learning, student schedules, and welcoming students back to center with a safe return. Leadership team members also participate in community meetings to help businesses and partners understand the daily commitment to making sure job corps students are successful.

The outreach and admissions team plays a big role in bringing students back to center and recruitment. The outreach team has made significant changes to the recruitment of students by using virtual recruitment sessions. A great tool to use is “Back to Job Corps / What We’re Doing To Get Ready for You or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws06-SzH4yw. The video prepares future and former students with changes made on center. Staff anticipate the day when students return back to center and are engaged in training and academics physically. However, with the pandemic the center has been engaged in meetings and conversations about possible hybrid career training and academics to support student achievement.
