Potomac Job Corps Center Hosts the National Job Corps Director

On Monday, December 12, 2016, Lenita Jacobs-Simmons, National Director of Job Corps visited the Potomac Center. Ms. Jacobs-Simmons selected Potomac as the host site to film an overview of her new, “Student-Centered Design Innovations Initiative”, scheduled to be introduced to the Job Corps community in the near future. Upon arrival, Ms. Jacobs-Simmons was greeted by Mr. Alfred Edwards, CEO/Chairman of Exceed Corporation, Ms. Rossalyn Abbott; President of Exceed Corporation as well as Mitra Vazeen the Center Director and our Hotel & Lodging students, who served a delicious breakfast comprised of buckwheat pancakes, crepes, and assorted fruit and Danish.

The highlight of the breakfast was the hand carved watermelon and fruit display. Ms. Jacobs-Simmons liked the carved watermelon so much, that she decided to take it with her to be used as a centerpiece for her upcoming Departmental Holiday Party. Ms. Jacobs-Simmons truly enjoyed conversations with our students as they asked questions and shared their job corps experiences. Upon successful completion of her filming, Ms. Jacobs-Simmons dined in the cafeteria with our students, Center Director and Corporate Staff. Special thanks were extended to our Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging Departments for an outstanding job done.
