Potomac Job Corps Center is always happy to highlight alumni/graduates that have become successful in their life outside of job corps. This week Henry Powell class of 2018 took some time to explain how he’s been successful. Before coming to Job Corps Henry was practicing to enter the Military. He planned to enter the Military before starting a family. His goal was to travel and serve his country. However, he had a change of heart when he spoke to a friend that was a recent graduate of job corps about the opportunity to still be successful. So, Henry arrived to Potomac excited and motivated. While on center Henry was a part of the Transportation Communication Union trade. He enjoyed working with his TCU instructors. The course that were most interesting to him was transportation class, keyboarding, and math. He’s currently employed by AMTRAK. “It was a dream come true for me because I was able to receive education and still travel around the world but also be welcomed back to Potomac Job Corps Center. Practicing daily in trade courses gave him the ability to focus on life skills, professionalism, and financial stability.
