On October 28, 2017 the Rec sponsored a trip to Ward 8 Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Mr. Jones and Ms. Moore along with students Jason Sargeant, Rashan Wilson, Lena O’Donnell, Joseph Hess, Avery Maxwell, Jo’quan Smith, Tarique King and Quinton Gardly participated in this walk with the Ward 8 community to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and it’s survivors. Staff and students also enjoyed the opportunity of meeting  Mayor Muriel Bowser and Ward 8 Councilman Trayon White. Students were excited to be in close proximity with these prominent figures of Washington, D.C, students also expressed how much participating in this event meant to them.
