Leadership Conferences

Potomac Job Corps participated in the 2012 NJCA Leadership Conference which was held in Washington, DC.  The students had an opportunity to interact with other Job Corps students across the country, tour the city, communicate about center opportunities, attend a banquet, visit congressional leaders, and just have fun. The highlight of the program for our students was a visit from the National Director of Job Corps, Edna Primerose. She began her presentation by sharing that the our world is becoming increasingly more global by the minute, and it constantly needs new leaders, new doers, who can adapt to the shifting times and lead on. She further explained, that is why people like Job Corps students are so very important. She summed it up by noting that the students at the conference were there because they wished to be involved and want to guide others.

Potomac Job Corps also had an opportunity to strut their skills by demonstrating their expertise in three trades at an evening BCL and Congressional gathering.  Students presented electrical, pharmacy, and masonry demonstrations.  Each student had an opportunities to share their experiences and discuss their career ambitions.  Five, pharmacy and electrical, students were given an opportunity by a Center Directors to apply for advance training at their site.  We are presently preparing for this transition.
