Building a “Comfort” Library

At Potomac Job Corps, we strive to offer the most comprehensive menu of learning and training in everything we do. A comfort library is one example of our efforts to reach success in the most diverse manner possible.  The new comfort library will incorporate all trades, store literature that relates a variety of trades and everyone will have an opportunity to add a piece of history by selecting something special from their trade a centerpiece for the “cultural cabinet”.

The library, once built, will have a warm and comfortable look.  Students will be able to read in an oversize chair, listen to music from multiple sources, listen to books on tape and watch fish as they move peacefully in a creatively designed fish tank.

Our carpentry students will design the bookshelves, our electrical students will help wire the library, our business students will organize study centers, and our hospitality students will assist with the overall interior design. The library will be functional and cozy.

Most books and reading materials for the library will be donated by local libraries and the US Library of Congress under a very robust and charitable partnership agreement.
