WBL Employer Happy with Pittsburgh Job Corps Students

[This is a letter from a WBL site supervisor to our WBL Coordinator, Karen Bobick.  It concerns three  EHelp students who have been working on the solar panel project at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh.]

Dear Karen:

The students (Italia M., Ur F., and Byron W.)  did an excellent job.  We were initially worried about bringing inexperienced young people on the site and were concerned they may be more of a hindrance than a benefit, but we were wrong.

They worked hard, listened well and did a great job.  They followed the work and safety rules well and we had no issues to speak of.  They were self-sufficient with their transportation but we elected to provide it on many occasions.

A couple of them were better suited to this type of work and stood out.  I would like to have a discussion with you about interviewing them when they finish your program.  We may be interested in hiring them if we have openings at that time.  This was a great program to allow us to see their potential in a real world situation.

Feel free to use me as a reference for other employers who may be interested in this program.  We may have a few more projects coming up that we could partner up on again if you are interested.

Thanks,

Joe Morinville
