The Health Occupations Career Training students and their instructors from Pine Ridge Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Chadron, Nebraska visited Western Nebraska Community College at Alliance, Nebraska on September 22nd. The students were welcomed by Associate Dean, John Corum, who is also a member of the Pine Ridge Industry Council. (Pictured top right) The college works in cooperation with Pine Ridge and offers 12 credit hours to students from seven of the center’s career training programs. Upon graduation from the Pine Ridge Job Corps, the students can use these hours to pursue an advanced degree at Western Nebraska Community College. The college offers over eighty accredited degrees. On this particular day, the Health Occupations students were invited to learn about the college’s LPN program. (Licensed Practical Nursing ) They were introduced to the enrollment process which included how to fill out application forms, apply for financial aid, achieve academic requirements, pursue housing availability, and experience first hand on what is being taught in the classroom.
