One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Twenty-five students and several staff members from Pinellas County Job Corps joined hundreds of others for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer—a walk to raise funds to end the deadly disease once and for all.
19-year-old Jarina Bernardin says she walked because she has family members who have passed away from cancer. “It was very inspiring,” said Bernardin. “I saw a lot of people from different backgrounds get together for the event. That felt good.”
The students took photos with breast cancer survivors and other volunteers along the way. Instructor Alicia Woods said the experience was very fulfilling. “It was great to see the trainees get out into the community for a purpose,” said Woods. “What an awesome group of young adults.”
