More than 45 Pinellas County Job Corps students lined up to give blood to those in need. The OneBlood Organization brought two buses to campus and, once again, more students signed up to participate than they could get to during this five-hour event.
According to OneBlood, every donation can save up to three lives. 18-year-old Angelina Lugo-Lyva gave blood for the first time. “I donate my hair when it gets long enough. Now that I’m old enough, I decided to donate blood. It’s scary, but I like to help people in need.” 21-year-old Phillip Davis adds, “I did this because it’s the right thing to do. I know I can regenerate blood and people need it. I can save lives.”
Great job to all our students who participated!
